SafeSearch Removal Guide (Delete SafeSearch)

SafeSearch is usually classified as a potentially unwanted application and in some cases even a browser hijacker. There are a couple of reasons for that. First, the toolbar gets distributed using a deceiving method called bundling. Mostly computer users do not notice agreeing to install additional programs during freeware installation and that is why they may not know how SafeSearch ended up on their PC.

The reason why SafeSearch is sometimes classified as a hijacker is because it is capable of changing your browser settings. Even though users usually agree to that as well, they do not remember doing so. If you never wanted this program on your computer, you should terminate SafeSearch without hesitation.

How does SafeSearch work?

When SafeSearch gets installed, it adds a toolbar to your browsers that contains a search box and such quick access buttons as Rate Website, Domain and others. The Domain button informs you of whether or not the site you are visiting is safe. If you did not un-tick the boxes with browser settings modification offer, then your home page and default search provider were switched to SafeSearch.net. The website itself does not look suspicious at all. There is not much on it aside from a search box that is positioned at the center of the page. If you make use of the SafeSearch engine, you will get original results, however, they will be filled with sponsored ads and links. You will see commercial content on other sites that you visit as well. We recommend you stay away from it as there is no way to be sure that it is legitimate.

If you want to avoid similar applications in the future, you should be more attentive when installing free software. In most cases, you are given a chance to decline the additional offers, especially if you choose Advanced or Custom installation mode. Try to do that next time you install freeware. As for now, you should focus on how to delete SafeSearch.

none of the anti malware programs is able to remove the stamplive adware from my computer. I’m afraid the only solution will be to go back to factory settings.

I had price minus ads popping up often in all webpages. It was driving me nuts.! I removed an extension from my browser (Firefox). I started deleting the extensions that I knew were not vital. And no more popups! I do have a couple of malware programs, and they too failed to remove these ads. But removing the extensions from Firefox + the add-ons section its what did the trick! I also did the same thing to google chrome browser, I deleted some add-ons, and extensions as well.
