Trojan:Win32/FakeSysdef is a hazardous Trojan horse that enters your system disguised as a hard disk defragmentation tool. The rogue application has different variants. One of them is called HDD Defragmenter. It claims to be able to scan your computer for various errors and provide you with a solution to your system problems.
The malicious program provides you with false data and tries to convince you to purchase useless software. You should not fall for this trick. Trojan:Win32/FakeSysdef is detection name used for different rogues. Aside from running a fake scan and presenting you with misleading results that claim you need to repair your system by purchasing the suggested software, you will also notice other infection symptoms. One of them is fake alerts. You may see bogus notifications appearing on your screen that are supposedly warning you of your computer’s status. The malware may even block the programs you are trying to launch claiming they are infected. You should not trust any information brought to you by the malicious application. - Reboot your computer
- Start tapping F8 after BIOS screen loads
- Select Safe Mode with Networking
- Go online and download the anti-malware
Uninstall Trojan:Win32/FakeSysdef from Windows XP
- Follow Windows 7 steps from 1 to 3
- Click Yes in the dialogue box
- Open Start menu and click Run
- Input ‘msconfig’ and click OK
- Go to Startup tab and check Disable All
- Click OK and restart your computer
- Open your browser
