HighlightSearches Removal Tips

HighlightSearches is an intrusive ad-supported application that can disrupt your Internet surfing. It is compatible with all popular browsers. The adware is promoted at highlightsearches.com. This page states that the application “allows you to get to the next page faster”.

The way it works is that it adds a button on the right side of the screen and if you click on that button you move on to the next page without having to scroll down. The usefulness of the program is questionable to say the least. Its main purpose, however, has nothing to do with your convenience. The software inserts ads into your browsers in order to promote its sponsors. We suggest that you delete HighlightSearches as soon as you can.

How does HighlightSearches work?

HighlightSearches works through a process called abengine.exe*32. It fills your browsers with advertisements and even modifies your Google search results to include its own sponsored ads and links. The application cannot be trusted as the adverts that it shows you are not all reliable. You could be exposed to fake ads and corrupted links. These adverts may lead you to malware harboring pages where you could infect your PC. Risking your computer safety is never a good idea, which is why it would be wise to eliminate HighlightSearches from your system.

Despite the fact that HighlightSearches has an official website, it cannot be downloaded from there. The software is distributed using a deceptive method called bundling. Potentially unwanted applications often get attached to freeware and shareware. During the installation process they are presented as additional offers. If you do not decline them, these programs get installed along with the freeware. It is important that you check every step of the installation wizard and deselect all unknown applications next time you install free software, otherwise you will have to deal with ad-supported programs again.

How to remove HighlightSearches?

Unfortunately, it is impossible to uninstall HighlightSearches via Control Panel, as it does not appear in the list of installed programs. In order to get rid of HighlightSearches, you will have to delete %PROGRAMFILES(x86)%\HighlightSearches and reset winsock. Instructions on how to do that are provided below. If manual HighlightSearches removal seems too complicated, you can always download and implement an anti-malware utility, which will clean your system automatically. The software will detect and delete HighlightSearches and all of its components. It will also protect your computer from other infections that you may catch online.

none of the anti malware programs is able to remove the stamplive adware from my computer. I’m afraid the only solution will be to go back to factory settings.

I had price minus ads popping up often in all webpages. It was driving me nuts.! I removed an extension from my browser (Firefox). I started deleting the extensions that I knew were not vital. And no more popups! I do have a couple of malware programs, and they too failed to remove these ads. But removing the extensions from Firefox + the add-ons section its what did the trick! I also did the same thing to google chrome browser, I deleted some add-ons, and extensions as well.
