Ask Toolbar Removal Tips

Ask Toolbar is a browser extension created by the developers of Ask Search. It is compatible with Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. The application has an official site at toolbar.ask.com where it can be downloaded. The reason why in some cases Ask Toolbar is considered a potentially unwanted program is because it also gets distributed with other freeware and shareware. If that is how you acquired it, most likely you did not even notice agreeing to its addition.

The toolbar is often attached to free software and if you do not pay attention to its installation wizard, you install it together with the program of your choice. The extension is completely safe and you should not worry about it. However, if you want to remove Ask Toolbar from your PC, this article will help you with that.

How does Ask Toolbar work?

The main issue that computer users usually have with Ask Toolbar is that they do not remember installing it. However, during freeware installation Ask comes as an optional offer that you can decline if you want to. If you install the full setup of the program you are also asked to change your home page and default search provider to search.ask.com. You can, of course, keep your browser settings unchanged if that is what you want.

The toolbar itself does not collect or reveal any of your personal data like browsing history and other similar information, so you can surf the Internet without worrying about your privacy. However, you should bear in mind that other websites that you may visit through Ask can employ cookies and record your non-personally identifiable data relating to Web browsing. If you do not think you have the need to keep the program installed, you can always delete Ask Toolbar from your PC. Here is how you can do that.

How to remove Ask Toolbar from my system?

There are two ways you can get rid of Ask Toolbar. You can uninstall it via Control Panel and then reset your browser settings, if they were modified or you can erase Ask Toolbar automatically. The first solution may take a bit longer, however, if you choose to go with that, you can use the step-by-step instructions provided below. If, however, you decide you want to terminate Ask Toolbar automatically you will have to download a malware removal tool. This option is much more effective as the anti-malware can eliminate all threats from your PC, not just the potentially unwanted program.

none of the anti malware programs is able to remove the stamplive adware from my computer. I’m afraid the only solution will be to go back to factory settings.

I had price minus ads popping up often in all webpages. It was driving me nuts.! I removed an extension from my browser (Firefox). I started deleting the extensions that I knew were not vital. And no more popups! I do have a couple of malware programs, and they too failed to remove these ads. But removing the extensions from Firefox + the add-ons section its what did the trick! I also did the same thing to google chrome browser, I deleted some add-ons, and extensions as well.
