How to remove Ask Toolbar

Ask Toolbar is a browser extension that belongs to Ask Partner Network, APN, LLC, the developers of Ask search engine. It can be downloaded at toolbar.ask.com or it may come bundled with other freeware. The toolbar gets attached to various third party software quite often, so it is likely that you did not download it yourself.

In some cases users think that the application entered their system without their permission, however, that is not the case. The toolbar is offered during the installation process of free software and you can decline it if you want. Often that does not happen because users do not pay too much attention to the installation wizard. If you never wanted the program in the first place, you can remove Ask Toolbar from your PC.

How does Ask Toolbar work?

The official description of Ask Toolbar states that it can provide you with quick access to a web search, weather reports, radio, news and various popular sites like Facebook, Amazon, eBay and more. The application is compatible with all popular browsers including Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. When you install Ask Toolbar, you are also offered to change your home page and default search provider to search.ask.com. This webpage contains quick access buttons to your favorite sites and a search box. Ask Search is a trustworthy search engine, however, it does add commercial content to the search results.

As it has already been mentioned, Ask Toolbar may enter your system together with bundled freeware. If that is how you acquired the application, you may want to check your PC for other potentially unwanted programs. Bundled freeware is often accompanied by various programs that are not necessarily useful. You could unwittingly install adware or browser hijackers. To make sure that does not happen always choose Advanced installation mode and decline all optional offers.

none of the anti malware programs is able to remove the stamplive adware from my computer. I’m afraid the only solution will be to go back to factory settings.

I had price minus ads popping up often in all webpages. It was driving me nuts.! I removed an extension from my browser (Firefox). I started deleting the extensions that I knew were not vital. And no more popups! I do have a couple of malware programs, and they too failed to remove these ads. But removing the extensions from Firefox + the add-ons section its what did the trick! I also did the same thing to google chrome browser, I deleted some add-ons, and extensions as well.
